# Report: Cart orders over time
> Track cart-based orders, revenue, average order value, and items per order.
The **Cart Orders Over Time** report shows metrics relating to cart orders over a selected timeframe.
This report is most useful for:
* Tracking the volume of cart-based orders over time
* Measuring gross revenue associated with cart orders
* Monitoring average order value and items per order in carts
## Data presented in this report
### Visual charts
* **Cart Orders Over Time**: Displays the number of cart orders and associated revenue by day, week, month, or year
### Data table
* **Date**: The specific time period selected (day, week, month, or year)
* **Quantity**: The number of cart orders placed during that period
* **Gross revenue**: The total gross revenue generated from cart orders
* **Average order value (AOV)**: The average dollar value of cart orders
* **Average items per order**: The average number of items included per cart order
## How to use this report
You can customize the data displayed in the report using several controls.
* **Time range**: Filter payments by period (e.g., last 7 days, last 30 days, custom date range)
* **Interval**: Choose how the data is grouped within the selected time range (Day, Week, Month, Year)
* **Offer selection**: Choose whether to view data for multiple offers or a specific offer
* **Currency selector**: View stats in your preferred currency
* **Comparison**: Compare current results against a past period
## Export information
When you export the **Cart Orders Over Time** report, the resulting file will include the same columns and reflect any filters you have applied. This ensures the data in the export matches what is displayed in the report:
* Interval
* Quantity
* Gross revenue amount
* Gross revenue currency
* Average order value
* Average order value currency
