# Email A/B Test distribution

> Split email recipients between test groups to find the winning Email Broadcast.

Split your email recipients across test groups to measure the effectiveness of different **Email Broadcast** variables.

## A/B Test distribution

A/B testing is a method of measuring the effectiveness of different variables.

By A/B testing your Email Broadcast, you can compare a constant version of your broadcast to an alternate version with small, variable changes similar to the constant version.

To create a meaningful test, you will want to split your recipients between your Test A and Test B Email Broadcasts and set your A/B Test Distribution.

At the same time, we want to help increase your conversions and get you started with the best Email Broadcast by sending your winning email to a percentage of your email recipients. Therefore, you will want to split your recipients between Test A, Test B, and the percentage of recipients that will receive the winning email broadcast.

For example, a meaningful Test Distribution could look like 25% to Test A, 25% to Test B, and 50% of recipients that will receive the winner of the test; 25%/25%/50% Test Distribution:

Use the slider to adjust your Test Distribution.

## FAQs

### When does the winner email get sent?

The Email Broadcast that wins the A/B test will be sent as soon as the Test Duration ends. [Learn more about Test Duration](/articles/marketing/email-campaigns/email-ab-test-duration).

### Why do you recommend a 25%/25%/50% split if you have less than 1000 total recipients for a test?

With more people in your test group you can get data back faster. This means that you can spend less time running the test and get onto sending the winning email.
