# Select Branded App data types and data safety for Google Play Store

Customers need to know how you'll handle their personal data prior to downloading the app. All app providers are required to provide **data safety** information when submitting their app for publication. The following sections walk through how to upload a CSV file to Google Play Console to submit Android data safety information.

## Why am I being asked to provide data safety information?

Customers need to know how you'll handle their personal data prior to downloading the app. All app providers are required to provide this information when submitting their app for publication.

## Import data safety information

Download a CSV file of data using the link provided in this guide and then upload the file on the **Data safety** page in Google Play Console.

**To download the CSV file:**

1. First, click here to open the CSV file in a different browser tab: [**Data Types CSV File**](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1WmpkqhRtNWtCVHSof-X8TviBzUvM_l9i/view)
2. Click the **Download** icon at the top right of the CSV preview screen. The CSV file will download to the computer locally.

**To import the CSV file:**

1. On the [Google Play](https://play.google.com/console) dashboard, expand the tasks under "Set up your app." Or, navigate to **Policy and programs** > **App content** in the left menu.
2. Select **Data safety**
3. An overview tutorial will appear in a popup modal. Click **Next** at each prompt, then click **Start** to exit the overview.
4. On the **Data safety** page, click **Import from CSV** at the top right:

5. Upload the CSV file and click **Save**
6. Press **Next** each time you're prompted until you see the final confirmation page:

7. Confirm that all of the information is correct, then click **Save**:
