# Can customers be anonymous in a Community?

> Anonymity options for customers in Communities.

At this time, it is not possible to be an anonymous customer within a **Community** without also making the name anonymous to you as the account owner.

For example, a customer can manually change their name to "Anonymous" in the Contacts section, but this will also change their name throughout the site including emails, the Contacts tab, and reports.
