# Use Klarna with Kajabi Payments

> Give your customers more flexibility at checkout with Klarna, a Buy Now, Pay Later payment option that can increase affordability and help boost conversions.

<Note>
  **Note:** Klarna is only available through Kajabi Payments. Learn more about [Kajabi Payments](/articles/sales/kajabi-payments/kajabi-payments-overview).
</Note>

Klarna is a Buy Now, Pay Later payment option available through Kajabi Payments. Enabling Klarna on your offers can make them more accessible to customers by giving them flexible ways to pay, while you receive the full payment amount upfront.

## How Klarna works

Klarna is a Buy Now Pay Later payment method that allows your customers to choose from various payment plans, letting them manage their finances more flexibly, while you get the full payment amount upfront.

At checkout, customers selecting to pay with Klarna are redirected to Klarna's secure site, where they'll either log in or create an account. Klarna then determines the available payment options based on the customer's location, creditworthiness, and purchase amount.

Common Klarna payment options include:

* **Pay in full (Pay Now):** Your customer pays for the purchase immediately using a card. Required for low-value purchases that don't meet installment thresholds
* **Pay later:** Your customer pays for the purchase in a single payment due in 30 days with no interest
* **Pay in 3 or 4:** Your customer pays for the purchase in three or four interest-free installments. The total transaction amount is typically spread equally across the installments, but Klarna might occasionally charge your customer more in the first installment based on the customer's purchasing power and other credit factors
* **Financing:** Your customer pays for the purchase over a longer term (up to 36 months), with potential interest charges. Not all customers are approved for the maximum amount, and approval is subject to creditworthiness

<Note>
  **Note:** Klarna determines which options are shown based on the customer's eligibility, location, and your offer price. If the offer amount exceeds Klarna's max in your region, Klarna will not appear as a payment method at checkout.

## Payment limits and eligibility

To offer Klarna successfully through Kajabi Payments, the following must be true:

* Your business must be registered in a supported Kajabi Payments country
* The customer must reside in the same country as your business
* Your offer must be a one-time payment in the default currency of your business's country
* The offer amount must fall within Klarna's minimum and maximum range for that country

<Note>
  **Note:** Currently, Klarna is only available to customers residing in the same country where your business is registered. Cross-border transactions are not supported. If a customer outside your business's registered country attempts to select Klarna at checkout, the transaction will not go through.

## Klarna marketing guidelines

A great way to let your customers know you accept payments with Klarna is by including Klarna branding on your product and cart pages. However, it's important to follow Klarna's [official marketing compliance guidelines](https://docs.klarna.com/marketing/solutions/grab-and-go) to avoid the risk of Klarna deactivating your ability to offer Klarna as a payment method due to a breach of those guidelines.

To stay compliant, you must:

* Only use approved Klarna messaging and logos
* Never imply that using Klarna will improve a customer's credit score or financial situation
* Avoid using unapproved wording to describe Klarna payment methods

<Warning>
  **Warning:** There are FCA regulatory requirements in the UK for advertising Klarna's Buy Now, Pay Later services. Failure to comply could result in criminal charges. You must only advertise Klarna using pre-approved messaging from Klarna. Review the official Klarna-approved wording in [Klarna's UK Financial Promotion Rules](https://www.klarna.com/uk/merchant-support/financial-promotions/).
</Warning>

## Klarna FAQs

### Do I need a Klarna merchant account?

No, you don't need a Klarna merchant account. Klarna serves as an extra payment option for your customers during checkout, and Kajabi Payments manages the process on your behalf.

### What offers will Klarna work for?

Klarna is only available on one-time offers that are configured to Kajabi Payments. It also supports additional purchases tied to the offer, including order bumps and upsells. However, Klarna may not be visible for these subsequent purchases if they are not one-time purchases or do not meet other requirements.

### Can customers apply coupons with Klarna?

Yes, customers can apply coupons at checkout before completing the purchase with Klarna.

### Does Klarna perform a credit check for my customers, and will this affect their credit score?

Klarna does not always perform a credit check. When a credit check is performed, they verify your customer's identity using the details provided and look at information from the credit report to understand your customer's financial behavior and evaluate their creditworthiness.

A soft credit check is performed when a customer selects: Pay in 3 or 4, Pay later, or Monthly financing.

For more information, see [Does Klarna perform a credit check?](https://www.klarna.com/us/customer-service/klarna-perform-credit-check/).

### Will all my customers be approved to pay using Klarna?

Not necessarily. Klarna's approval process is based on factors like the customer's credit profile and order history.

### What can my customers see about my business within their Klarna account?

Customers can see basic information about your business within the Klarna app, including your store name, logo, and the offers they've purchased using Klarna.

### What happens if a customer misses a payment?

If a customer misses a payment, this does not affect your relationship with the customer or the funds you've already received. Klarna manages payment collections independently. Customers can reference this Klarna article for more information: [What happens if I can't pay on time?](https://www.klarna.com/us/customer-service/what-happens-if-i-cant-pay-on-time/)
