How to Enable Klarna with Kajabi Payments

How Klarna Works 

Klarna is a Buy Now Pay Later payment method that allows your customers to choose from various payment plans allowing them to manage their finances better and shop without immediate financial strain, while you get the full payment amount upfront.

To pay with Klarna, customers are redirected from your checkout to Klarna’s site, where they either sign up or log in to authorize the payment by agreeing to the terms of a payment plan:

Based on the value of your offer and the customer's history with Klarna, the following payment options are available: 

  • Pay Now: Pay instantly with a debit or credit card. This is the only option for offers under:
    • $35 USD
    • $35 CAD
    • £30 UK
    • $10 AUD 
  • Pay in 4: Split the purchase into 4 payments, paid automatically every 2 weeks.
  • Pay in 30 Days: Have the flexibility to pay up to 30 days later.
  • Pay Over Time: Klarna offers financing plans that range from 6-24 months. Please note that additional interest rates will apply depending on the customer’s relationship with Klarna.
Note:
Please note that Klarna supports payments up to $10,000 in the US, £5,000 in the UK, $4,000 in AU, and $2000 in CA. Offers exceeding this amount will not be eligible for Klarna, and you won't be able to choose Klarna as an additional payment method when creating your offers.

Supported Regions

Klarna is currently available via Kajabi Payments for Heroes whose businesses are registered in the United States, Canada, and Australia. 

It’s important to note that when selecting to offer Klarna on your checkout, there are specific parameters that you must meet for Klarna to show up as a payment method. Your offer must be presented in the default currency associated with your country, and within the following limits:

  • United States: between $1 - $10,000 USD 
  • Canada: between $1 - $2,000 CAD
  • Australia: between $1 - $4,000 AUD
  • United Kingdom: between £1 - £5,000 GBP
Note:
Currently, Klarna is only available to customers residing in the same country where your business is registered. Cross-border transactions are not supported. If a customer outside your business's registered country attempts to select Klarna at checkout, the transaction will not go through.

Processing Refunds

You’ll be able to complete full or partial refunds for Klarna transactions through Kajabi up to 180 days after the original payment. There are no fees to refund a charge however, the fees from the original charge will not be returned. If applicable, anything related to interest will be handled directly by Klarna.


How to Manage Klarna Purchases in Kajabi

You can see Klarna purchases reflected throughout the Kajabi application and take actions, like sending receipts and refunding payments.

How to Enable Klarna on Offers With Kajabi Payments

To enable Klarna on an offer with Kajabi Payments:

  • Open the Sales tab from the Dashboard.
  • Click Offers.
  • Select the Offer you wish to edit or create a new one.
  • Then, select the Pricing tab.
  • Navigate to the Payment Providers section.
  • Check the box next to Klarna.
  • Click Save to apply your changes:

 

With Kajabi, you can bulk enable Klarna on all your Kajabi Payment offers right from the Offers page!

Klarna FAQs

Do I need a Klarna merchant account?

No, you don't need a Klarna merchant account. Klarna serves as an extra payment option for your customers during checkout and Kajabi Payments manages the process on your behalf.

What offers will Klarna work for?

Klarna is only available on one-time offers that are configured to Kajabi Payments. It also supports additional purchases tied to the offer including order bumps, upsells and downsells. However, Klarna may not be visible for these subsequent purchases if they are not one-time purchases or do not meet other requirements.

Can customers apply coupons with Klarna?

Yes, customers can apply coupons at checkout before completing the purchase with Klarna.

Does Klarna perform a credit check for my customers and will this affect their credit score? 

Klarna does not always perform a credit check. When a credit check is performed, they verify your customer’s identity using the details provided and look at information from the credit report to understand your customer’s financial behavior and evaluate their creditworthiness.

A soft credit check is performed when a customer selects: Pay in 4, Pay in 30 days, or Monthly financing

Will all my customers be approved to pay using Klarna? 

Not all customers are guaranteed approval for Klarna, as approval depends on various factors considered during Klarna’s assessment.

What can my customers see about my business within their Klarna account?

Customers can see basic information about your business within the Klarna app, including your store name, logo, and the offers they've purchased using Klarna.

What happens if a customer misses a payment?
