Learn the difference between Modules and Lessons and how to best use them to deliver and organize your Course Product content.

In this article:

What is a Lesson?

A Lesson is a piece of content (i.e. video, assessment, audio, text, or a combination thereof) within a Module of a Course Product. You can create multiple Lessons within a Module.

Your Lessons will look like this in your Course Outline:

The following elements can be added to a Lesson:

  • Video
  • Downloads
  • Audio File
  • Text Box
  • Assessment
Note:
The Assessment feature inside of Courses has been sunset. This feature may still appear in older accounts. The Quizzes feature is now available inside of Courses and offers advanced functionality. Assessments can still be added to Web Pages.

What is a Module?

A Module is a tool to organize your Lessons under a common heading.

For instance, if you're teaching a course on drumming for beginners, and you have Lessons about both drumming techniques and different kinds of drum sticks, you could create Modules for "Techniques" and "Stick Types".

Modules can also be used to Drip release content in a Product. This functionality can be configured in the Module settings.

What is a Submodule?

Submodules are secondary Modules within a main Module.

Submodules provide a great way to further organize your Course Outline and create bite-sized, manageable learning sessions for your customers.

Submodules will look similar to this in your Course Outline:

You can create up to 30 Submodules within each main Module.

Submodules can also be set to Drip release content. This is very useful if you only want to Drip certain Lessons within a Module, but not Drip the whole Module at once.
