How to Configure Fields at Checkout: Name, Address, Phone Number, and Tax ID

Updated this week

Additional customer information such as Name, Phone Number, Address, or Tax ID number can be collected during the checkout process. This additional information is beneficial in order to utilize the Payments by Country and State report, mail items to your customer, or to contact them if a call is part of the offer.

Add extra contact information

To require additional contact information in your checkout form:

  • Open the Sales tab from your Dashboard.

  • Then, click Offers.

  • Edit an existing Offer or create a new one.

  • Click Edit Checkout.

  • Open the Form fields section in the editor.

  • Select the checkout fields you wish to include.

  • Then, click Save to keep and apply your changes:

Tip:

Extra contact information can be viewed in the Contacts tab.

Set default country for Address field at Checkout

When collecting addresses at checkout, you now have the option to set a default country in one of two ways:

  1. Use customer's geolocation
Automatically detect the customer’s location based on their IP address and pre-fill the country field at checkout. This ensures a more seamless checkout experience, especially for international audiences.

  2. Set a default country manually
Choose a specific country to appear as the default at checkout, regardless of the customer's actual location. This is useful if you primarily serve customers in one country.

To configure the default country for checkout:

  1. From your Checkout Page editor, select Form fields

  2. Select the Collect address checkbox.

  3. Under the address settings, select your preferred setting:

    • Use customer's geolocation to detect and display their location-based country.

    • Set default country at checkout and choose the country from the dropdown.

Note:

These settings will apply automatically to checkout forms on both Popup Checkout, Cart, and Standard Checkout pages. Invoice checkout forms are not yet supported.
