The Email Visual Editor is designed to build responsive email content across both Desktop and Mobile devices. With highly-customizable visual editing, we recommend optimizing your images to enhance your recipients' email experience across devices. Learn to optimize your images in an Email Campaign.

Tip:
When building your Email Campaign, we recommend changing your view with the triangle in the bottom right corner to ensure optimal email viewing for your recipients on Desktop and Mobile devices.

Viewing on different devices

Mobile

The Email Visual Editor uploads your images to be responsive when viewed on different devices. This means that when your recipients view your Email Campaign on a Mobile device, your images will be displayed in full width. However, you may wish to adjust the sizing of your image when viewed on a Mobile device according to your design vision.

To customize the sizing of your image when viewed on a Mobile device:

  • Navigate to the top toolbar and click the Mobile icon.
  • Locate the Image section you wish to customize and click Edit.
  • In the sidebar, click Mobile Layout.
  • Configure your Padding Mobile to stretch or shrink your image when viewed on a Mobile device.
  • Click Save to keep your changes:

Note:
The Logo Image is the only image that will not change to full width when your email is viewed on Mobile.

Desktop

The Email Visual Editor empowers you to control not only the Mobile view, but the Desktop view as well. By default, your preview will be set to view on Desktop, but we recommend switching between the views while editing to ensure the best results for your recipients on any device.

To customize the sizing of your image when viewed on a Desktop device:

  • Navigate to the top toolbar and click the Desktop icon.
  • Locate the Image Section you wish to customize and click Edit.
  • In the sidebar, click Desktop Layout.
  • Configure your Padding Desktop to stretch or shrink your image when viewed on a Desktop device.
  • Click Save to keep your changes:

Optimizing for different email clients

Email clients vary when it comes to displaying emails.

This can mean that different email clients will display your email up to a certain size.

Most commonly, when an email is larger than the email client supports, it will include a button at the bottom of the email allowing the recipient to "View Full Email" when clicked.

To ensure that your entire email is displayed without this button, we recommend keeping the size of your email to a minimum.

One method of minimizing your email size is by compressing your images.

Image size

Compressing your images (i.e. reducing the file size while maintaining the image quality) is always the best practice when it comes to uploading images to your site and emails.

However, we have built into the Email Visual Editor a feature to automatically resize your images when uploaded into your Email Campaigns.

When uploading your image into the file picker of an Image Section, the image will compress down to, at most, 1280px wide while keeping the original aspect ratio (width vs. height) of the image:

Although the Email Visual Editor makes it simpler to optimize your email for varying email clients, we always recommend compressing your images.

Compressing your images

Compressing your image sizes can greatly enhance user experience for both your emails and your pages. We recommend utilizing free image compression tools like ImageOptim or imageresizer.com:

Image compression apps are also available for both Mac and Windows devices. We recommend finding an image compressor that works best for you and utilizing it to optimize the images for your site and your emails.
