There are many ways to drive traffic to your site. There are entire courses about web traffic, but when it comes down to it, there are only three ways to drive traffic.
The 3 Types of Blog Traffic
- Free Traffic
- Paid Traffic
- Partner Traffic
One of the most popular forms of free traffic is search engine traffic. If you can rank #1 in google for a popular search term in your niche, you can get consistent free traffic every day whether you are working or not.
In an earlier lesson, we shared that one of the best ways to create content is through answering questions. But there’s one more step you can take to make your blog post search engine friendly. Use the SEO section of Kajabi.
After you have written your blog post, scroll down to the bottom of the page and you’ll find a section called “SEO and Sharing.” SEO stands for search engine optimization. The two most important fields to fill out are:
- Page Title
- Page Description
Fill out this section in order to tell Google exactly what your blog post is all about. Use keywords and phrases to describe your blog post. While this takes a few minutes of extra work, it can boost your rankings in Google.
If you are frustrated with the lack of traffic to your website, here’s some good news. You can buy traffic. Most people see paid ads as a cost, not an investment. When done correctly, paid traffic can build your email list. The larger your email list, the more sales you can make. It works like this:
- Launch an ad on Facebook for less than $5 per day
- As visitors read your blog post, some will get on your email list
- Once on your email list, you can share your paid offerings.
It’s not impossible to get .15 or .20 cents per click on ads that drive traffic to your blog posts. You can also control your spending on Facebook for as little as $5 per day.
Also known as referral traffic, the goal of partner traffic is to drive visitors to your blog from other popular sites online. There are many ways to do this, but a simple way to get started is blogging.
Many popular blogs online accept guest posts. By publishing a guest post, you will get links pointed back to your blog. As people read blog posts on popular sites, they will click through to visit yours. To find guest posting opportunities, do a search online using your topic + “write for us.” You’ll find many places online where you can submit guest post ideas.
