If a customer cancels their subscription and repurchases the same Product, their Start Date will reset to the date of their repurchase.
With their Start Date reset, dripped content will begin from their new Start Date.
If you wish to have your customers maintain their original Start Date if they repurchase, manually reset their Start Date in their Contact Profile.
