Learn how to connect your custom email domain from Google Domains to your Kajabi Account.
In this Article:
To connect your custom email domain to Kajabi, you will need to add the following DNS Records provided by Kajabi to your DNS Provider:
To access DNS records in Google:
- Go to your Google Domains Dashboard.
- Click Manage to the right of your purchased domain.
- Then, click DNS from the sidebar on the left.
- Scroll down to the Custom Resource Records section.
To add your unique DNS records from Kajabi to Google Domains:
Google Domains use different terms than Kajabi for the data required in a DNS record. For Instance:
- If you see "Name": Paste your "Host" data into the "Name" field.
- If you see "Data": Paste your "Value" data into the namefield.
Step 1. Add TXT Records
- Copy your unique TXT DNS record created by Kajabi in your Email Domain Settings and Paste the Host text into the Name textbox in Google.
- Select TXT from the Type Dropdown.
- Copy the Value Text in the Kajabi Settings and Paste them into the Data text box in Google.
- Repeat this step for the Second TXT record and click save.
Step 2. Add MX Records
- Copy your unique MX DNS record created by Kajabi in your Email Domain Settings and Paste the Host text into the Name textbox in Google.
- Select TXT from the Type Dropdown.
- Copy the Value Text in the Kajabi Settings and Paste them into the Data text box in Google.
- To add the Second MX record, Click the + button next to the Data textbox and paste the the Value text into the second Data textbox and Click Save.
- Then, click Edit on the second Data set and edit the priority from 10 to 20. This will give one MX record with the priority at 10 and the other at 20.
Step 3. Add CNAME Record
- Copy your unique Cname DNS record created by Kajabi in your Email Domain Settings and Paste the Host text into the Name textbox in Google.
- Select Cname from the Type Dropdown.
- Copy the Value Text in the Kajabi Settings and Paste them into the Data text box in Google.
- Click save.
Step 4. Wait!
Wait up to 48 hours for the DNS changes to propagate.
What does this mean?
To create a successful connection:
- A custom subdomain has been added to ensure your records do not interfere with existing domains;
- Your DNS changes must propagate, meaning Internet Service Provider (ISP) nodes across the world must update their caches with your new DNS information.
Can I send emails during this time?
Yes! As your custom email domain propagates, your marketing emails will continue to send under Kajabi's shared marketing email domain.
How will I know when it's done?
After the verification process has completed, the Custom Email Domain setting will change and you will receive an email notification from Kajabi Support:
- Your custom email domain is verified and ready to use
- Or there is a problem verifying your domain
If you have received an email notification that your custom email domain is ready for use, your marketing emails will now be sent to your list with your newly branded email domain!
