How to Customize Your Community Notifications

With Kajabi Communities, you and your members can choose to enable or disable push notifications (i.e. pop-up banners) and email notifications for your Announcements, Challenges, Circles, Meetup Reminders, Live Room Alerts, and Direct Messages.

What notifications do Community Members receive?

Utilize your community notifications to stay informed about your community communications.

Community notifications are sent out in three ways:

  • Emails
  • In-app notifications (in your notification center)
  • Mobile notifications (push notifications) 

Notifications are controlled two ways:

  • On an individual basis, in an individual’s profile settings
  • By you, the Hero, at the community level in community settings

As an admin for your Community, you will see the following notification settings:

When a new member joins your community, all of their notifications will be enabled. After they join, they can customize their preferences in their profile settings. 

For the following charts, you, your moderators, administrators, and community members will be able to customize and receive the indicated Community notifications.

Customize your notifications using the web app

To adjust your notifications using the Community web app:

  • Go into your Community and locate your profile icon at the top right of the page.
  • Select Account Settings:

  • Then, in the left sidebar select Notifications.
  • Click the toggles next to Push Notifications and/or Email Notifications to adjust as desired for each Community feature (when the toggle is gray, notifications are off; when the toggle is black, notifications are on):

  • Click Save to apply your changes:

For your Channel (formerly Circle) push notifications, you can also change how often and what type of push notifications you see for each Channel by clicking to open the dropdown menu under the Channel name:

  • All messages - Get notified every day about all messages in your Channel (formerly Circle), including announcements, mentions, meetups, and polls.
  • Highlights only - Receive a notification summary every 2 days.
  • Muted - Opt out of all notifications for a specific Channel (formerly Circle):

Note:
If you’ve disabled any of the email notification settings at the Community level, your members will see those notification settings grayed out in “My Account Settings” and won’t be able to activate them. Learn more about how to customize Community email notifications for all members.

Customize your notifications using the mobile app

To adjust your notifications using the Community mobile app:

  • Select your profile icon at the top left:

  • Then, select the Settings gear icon at the top right:

  • Select Notifications.
  • Choose the type of notification you'd like to modify (Channels (formerly Circles), Challenges, Meetups, Announcements, Liveroom, or Direct Message).
  • Turn the toggle on or off next to Push Notifications and/or Email Notifications to adjust as desired (when the toggle is gray, notifications are off; when the toggle is green, notifications are on).

For your Channel (formerly Circles) push notifications, you can also change how often and what type of push notifications you see for each Channel (formerly Circle) by clicking on the Channel name:

  • All messages - Get notified every day about all messages in your Channel (formerly Circle), including announcements, mentions, meetups, and polls.
  • Highlights only - Receive a notification summary every 2 days.
  • Muted - Opt out of all notifications for a specific Channel.
Tip:
You can also access your Notification Settings on the mobile app by clicking the bell-shaped Notifications icon at the top right next (to the profile icon) and then clicking ... at the top right of the screen and selecting "Notification Settings."
