Moving your business from Podia to Kajabi is a manual migration; export your contacts and files from Podia, then rebuild your products and pricing in Kajabi. There is no automated Podia importer, so plan the work in stages rather than expecting a one-click transfer. Kajabi’s Contact Importer tool can grant an Offer while it imports, so your Podia customers arrive with their content already unlocked. And, because Podia processes every recurring payment through your own Stripe account, your active subscriptions may be eligible to move into Kajabi Payments without customers re-entering card details. Eligibility is decided case by case. Migrate in this order: export from Podia, rebuild your Products, set up pricing and payments, import contacts and grant access, then migrate your email. Point your domain to Kajabi last — once DNS updates, traffic lands on your Kajabi site, so everything needs to be ready before you make the switch.

Before you begin

  • Start a paid Kajabi subscription. The Kajabi Contact Importer tool is unavailable during a trial.
  • Export your Podia contacts and each product’s customer list to grant the right access
  • Gather your original course videos and files, not Podia’s processed copies
  • Confirm you can edit DNS at your domain registrar
  • Note which Podia products were paid, and at what price, so you can rebuild each Offer

Export your content and contacts from Podia

Export your contacts

  1. In Podia, click your site name and select Admin from the dropdown menu.
  2. Click Audience in the sidebar, then choose Contacts.
  3. Select the checkbox next to the number of people shown to select everyone.
  4. Click the Actions drop-down and choose Export.
  5. Click Export people to confirm.
  6. Check your email. Podia sends the .csv file once the export generates.

Export each product’s customer list

Click Products in the sidebar, open the product, click the more options (…) icon, and choose Export customers. Do this for each paid product. These per-product lists help you grant the right Kajabi Offers to the right customers. A single combined contact export tells you who your audience is, but not what each person already paid for.

Download your course files

Download your videos, audio, and attachments from Podia’s Files Library so you have local copies to upload to Kajabi.
Note: Podia does not store the original files you uploaded. Downloads give you the compressed version it created for streaming. Upload your own master files to Kajabi wherever you still have them, so you are not re-encoding an already-compressed video.

Rebuild your Products in Kajabi

Every Podia product type has a Kajabi equivalent: In Kajabi, a Course contains modules that group lessons, and each lesson holds your text, video, and files. Recreate your Podia course outline as modules and lessons, then upload the content you downloaded. Set up pricing and payments

Connect a payment provider

Connect a payment provider before building Offers, since an Offer needs one to take payment. Kajabi Payments is available to businesses registered in the United States, Canada, Australia, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, and select European countries.

Create an Offer for each paid product

An Offer is what customers actually buy. It packages a Product with a price and a Checkout Page.

From the Dashboard, select the Sales tab, click Pricing, then click +New Offer and match the price you charged in Podia.

Move active subscriptions to Kajabi Payments

Podia runs subscriptions and payment plans through your own Stripe account, so those subscriptions are already under your control. Kajabi can migrate Stripe subscriptions created outside of Kajabi into Kajabi Payments, which keeps your recurring revenue running without asking customers to re-enter their card details. Eligibility is decided case by case. Kajabi’s team reviews your Stripe account after you submit a migration request and confirms what is in scope. Some subscriptions qualify and others are skipped, depending on their status and payment method. PayPal subscriptions cannot be migrated so nothing recurring is affected. Because your Podia subscriptions were created outside Kajabi, customers who are not already a member of your Kajabi site receive the Member Welcome Email when their subscription moves.
Note: Most migrations finish within 1 to 3 weeks of your request. Plan your domain switch within that timeline.

Import your contacts and grant access

Prepare your CSV

Start from your Podia CSV export and adjust it for Kajabi’s Contact Importer tool:
  1. Keep Email as a column. This field is required.
  2. Kajabi also requires a single Name field. Combine separate First and Last Name columns into one.
  3. You may keep any of these additional columns: Phone Number, Address, City, State, Zip Code, Country, Tags, Notes.
  4. Save the file as CSV UTF-8 (Comma delimited).
Note: In order to grant customers access to specific Products when importing to Kajabi, complete separate imports for customers who owned that Product on Podia.
These limits apply to each import: Your plan also determines how many contacts your site can hold. Check your contact usage limits before importing your Podia lists.

Import a product’s buyers and grant them the Offer

  1. From the Dashboard, open the Contacts tab.
  2. Click All Contacts.
  3. Click + Add contacts.
  4. Select Upload File, then choose your prepared .csv file.
  5. Click Continue to Upload.
  6. On Map Columns, review each column and choose Existing Field, New Field, or Skip.
  7. On Bulk Actions, use Select offers to grant the Offer for the product these customers bought, and Select tags to tag them (for example, Podia migration).
  8. Click Continue to Summary, review the import, and start it.
Kajabi emails you a confirmation when the import finishes, including a file listing any rows it rejected and why. Repeat this for each product file, granting a different Offer each time. Only import people who agreed to hear from you. Learn more about best practices for growing and maintaining your contact lists.
Warning: Granting an Offer during import creates each person as a customer and sends them the Customer Welcome Email and an Offer Grant Confirmation email. Turn those notifications off first if you do not want your migrated list emailed as it imports.

Move your email marketing

Your Podia broadcasts and email sequences do not transfer, so rebuild them in Kajabi under Marketing > Email Campaigns. Create an email sequence to replace each Podia sequence. You can also subscribe contacts to a sequence during the import itself, which is a clean way to send a migrated list a “we’ve moved” welcome.

Point your domain to Kajabi

Change your domain last, once your Products, Offers, and checkout are live. Until you do, your Podia site is still available to customers.
  1. From the Dashboard, open Settings.
  2. Under Site settings, click Domain.
  3. Click Set up custom domain, then select Connect domain to Kajabi.
  4. Follow the steps to update the nameservers at your registrar.

Note: DNS changes take time to propagate. Keep your Podia site available until your Kajabi site resolves at your domain and a test purchase succeeds.

FAQs

Can Kajabi import my Podia Courses automatically?

No. Course content has to be rebuilt by hand. Download your files from Podia and upload them into Kajabi modules and lessons. There is no automated Podia course importer.

Will my customers keep their active subscriptions?

Sometimes — Kajabi assesses each migration request individually. Podia bills recurring payments through your own Stripe account, and Kajabi can migrate externally created Stripe subscriptions into Kajabi Payments so customers are not asked to re-enter card details. Submit a migration request to find out whether yours qualify.

How many contacts can I import at once?

Up to 20,000 rows per file, in a .csv no larger than 30 MB, and up to 40,000 contacts per day. Split a larger list across several files.

Will my customers be emailed when I import them?

Only if you grant them an Offer. Contacts imported without an Offer receive no automatic email. Granting an Offer creates them as customers, which sends the Customer Welcome Email and an Offer Grant Confirmation email.
