Start with Cofounder

If you're new to Kajabi, Cofounder is the fastest way to go from idea to launch-ready business. Work with it from your first login to clarify your direction, build your foundation, and know exactly what to do next.

What to expect

Cofounder guides you through a short, conversational interview to understand your business. Expect questions about:

  • Your goal

  • Your audience

  • Your niche

  • Your challenges

  • Your preferred product format

You can optionally share an email so Cofounder can review your existing online presence and tailor its recommendations to your background.

Tip: The more specific you are about who you serve and what you sell, the sharper Cofounder's recommendations will be. Cofounder draws on Kajabi's documentation as it answers, so the guidance you get reflects how the platform actually works today.

Personalized action plan

Once Cofounder understands your business, it builds a personalized action plan with three to six next steps tailored to your goal. These are the concrete moves that turn your idea into a live offer. Action items appear as a checklist inside the Cofounder panel and on your Site Business Checklist.

Cofounder Personalized Action Plan

Note: If you signed up for Kajabi through the Cofounder pre-signup experience, your profile, assets, and action plan carry over to your account, and Cofounder opens automatically on your first login. If you signed up another way, your checklist stays empty until you start a conversation with Cofounder.

Why Cofounder may take longer to respond

When you see Cofounder's status change from Thinking to other states, it means Cofounder is doing something more complex under the hood to personalize its response for your specific business. This might include:

  • Reviewing your progress by checking your Site Business Checklist and what you've accomplished so far

  • Identifying what account resources you have (Products, Offers, Pages, etc.)

  • Looking up details about your resources, for example, the pricing you've set, your GMV, or how your Course is configured

Chat history

Cofounder remembers your past conversations, so you can pick up where you left off or reference earlier discussions in a conversation.

  • Click the pencil icon in the Cofounder panel header to start a conversation.

  • Switch to fullscreen view to see the Conversations sidebar, which lists all of your past chats.

  • Click any previous conversation to reopen it and continue where you left off.

  • In compact view, use the conversation dropdown at the top of the panel to switch between chats.

Cofounder can reference context from your earlier conversations. For example, if you discussed building a specific Course in one chat, you can open a separate conversation and ask Cofounder to continue working on that same Course. It will know what you're referring to.

Upload images

Share screenshots and images directly in your Cofounder chat for more targeted guidance.

Send an image

  1. Click the + button at the bottom of the chat input field.

  2. Select an image from your device.

  3. Add a message describing what you need help with, then click the arrow to send.

Supported formats: JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP, PDF. Maximum file size is 10 MB.

Use cases

  • Troubleshooting: Upload a screenshot of an issue you're experiencing in the app, such as an error message or unexpected behavior, and ask Cofounder to help you troubleshoot.

  • Inspiration: Upload a screenshot of an external landing page, website, or design you admire and ask Cofounder how you might build something similar in Kajabi.

Note: Cofounder analyzes uploaded images to provide guidance and recommendations but does not directly build or modify pages from them.

Create and update resources

Cofounder can create draft resources, including Courses, Offers, Landing Pages, emails, Automations, and more. It walks you through the process, showing you what it’s about to build and asks key questions along the way. Cofounder only creates the resources after it receives confirmation from you. Automations are the exception: Cofounder builds the draft right away so you can review the draft itself, and nothing sends until you publish.

Most content is saved as drafts, and a new Course is published unless your site has reached its product limit. Cofounder then provides a link so you can review what it built.

Note: Cofounder will not delete any resources or import contacts.

Page awareness

Cofounder understands which page you are currently viewing and can provide structural feedback based on the content you have created.

Examples of what you can ask:

  • “What page am I on?”

  • “How do I do X on this page?”

  • “I’m having trouble with X. Can you help me troubleshoot?”

  • “What improvements would you suggest for my sales page?”

Page awareness is especially helpful when you encounter an error or unexpected behavior. Open Cofounder from the page where the issue is happening, and it can see the context and help you resolve it.

Resource navigator

Ask Cofounder about the resources in your account and it will surface direct links to view, edit, or manage them. Instead of navigating through menus, describe what you're looking for and Cofounder will take you there.

Examples of what you can ask:

  • "What Courses do I have?"

  • "Show me my Landing Pages"

  • "Take me to my Coaching program settings"

Cofounder returns deep links so you can jump directly to the relevant page, whether that's a Course editor, a Product dashboard, pricing settings, or another location.

Supported resource types

  • Evergreen Courses

  • Cohort Courses

  • Podcasts

  • Newsletters

  • Digital Downloads

  • One-on-One Coaching

  • Group Coaching Programs

  • Communities

  • Payment Integrations (Stripe, PayPal, Kajabi Payments)

  • Site Settings and Account Settings

Note: Resource navigator does not support Funnels or Automations. To find or explain your Automations, see Build and edit Automations with Cofounder.

Site analyst

Ask Cofounder how your site is performing and get a data-driven snapshot of your business. Cofounder analyzes your site's traffic, conversion, revenue, and pricing metrics and highlights where you're doing well and where there's room to grow.

Examples of what you can ask:

  • "How is my site performing?"

  • "Where should I focus to grow my business?"

  • "How are my pages performing compared to the average?"

Cofounder responds with a concise summary, typically up to three key findings, focused on the metrics that matter most. It highlights areas where your performance is above or below benchmarks, so you know exactly where to focus your attention.

Build and edit Automations with Cofounder

Ask Cofounder to build or change an Automation, and it sets up the trigger, steps, waits, and branches for you. It can also tell you which Automations you already have, explain what each one does, and warn you about Automations that would trigger each other in a loop.

Examples of what you can ask:

  • “When someone submits my opt-in form, tag them and send a five-email welcome series”

  • “What Automations do I have?”

  • “Which Automations use my Free Guide form?”

  • “Add a two-day wait before the second email in my welcome Automation”

New Automations are always created as drafts, so Cofounder builds them without asking you to confirm first. Cofounder cannot publish or turn on an Automation. Review it on the canvas and publish it yourself. If the Automation needs something that doesn't exist yet, such as a Tag, Cofounder tells you and offers to create it, and it points out anything you still need to fix before you can publish.

If you ask for a change while that Automation is open on the canvas, Cofounder shows the change there, and nothing is saved until you click Save. If you ask from anywhere else to edit an Automation that is already published, Cofounder tells you the change will go live and asks you to confirm. Once saved, it applies to the next contact who reaches that step. When Cofounder saves an edit itself, it will not make one that would unpublish a live Automation or remove contacts who are partway through it. When it shows a change on the canvas, it tells you before you click Save if the change would do either.

Cofounder uses the same Automation tools as Claude and ChatGPT, so the same limits apply. See what an AI-drafted Automation can include.

Note: Building Automations with Cofounder requires the upgraded Automations experience. If your account is still on the original Automations, Cofounder will ask you to upgrade first. See Explore the upgraded Automations experience. Branches require Advanced Automations; see Basic vs. Advanced Automations.

Proactive nudges

Cofounder can reach out to you with personalized suggestions when it notices you haven't been active on your site. These nudges are designed to help you maintain momentum and get back on track with actionable next steps.

Where nudges appear

  • In-app: A chat bubble appears next to the Cofounder icon with a short preview of the suggestion. Click Start to open Cofounder with the full nudge, or Dismiss to close it.

  • Mobile app: Push notifications delivered to your mobile device.

  • Email: An email with the nudge and a direct link to open Cofounder in your dashboard.

Nudges are triggered by inactivity. You are most likely to see them on sites where you haven't been recently active. Each nudge includes a specific, actionable recommendation based on your business context, such as an incomplete action item or an opportunity to improve a specific metric.

Manage nudge preferences

Choose which of your sites receive nudges, and how, from the Cofounder settings page. If you manage more than one site, each site has its own nudge preferences, so you can keep nudges on where you're actively building and turn them off elsewhere.

Note: Only account owners can open the Cofounder settings page and change nudge preferences.

  1. From the Dashboard, click Settings, then click Cofounder under Account Settings.

  2. Find the site you want to manage in the list under Nudges.

  3. Use the In-app nudges toggle to turn in-app nudges on or off for that site.

  4. Use the Email nudges toggle to turn email nudges on or off for that site.

When you turn off In-app nudges for a site, any pending in-app nudge for that site is cleared as well.
