A section is a specific area of your page that contains blocks used to organize and break up your content. Your page typically contains several sections, which you can customize and preview in the sidebar editor:
Use sections to organize and present your content in an easy-to-consume, beautifully designed page.
All sections are made up of blocks, so you can replicate any section by adding block types to it. Preset sections with preset block types (like Text in Panel or Hero with Countdown) look different from sections where you click Add Content to add block types yourself.
Tip: Enable guides in Design Tools to help you tell each element on your page apart.
Preset sections
Kajabi offers over 45 preset sections, so you can design your page exactly as you want:
Basic Content sections include preset Text blocks, a Text block with a Call to Action preset, or a Form block and a Text block.
Hero sections have preset backgrounds that can include a Countdown overlay, Form overlay, Image overlay, or Video overlay.
Features sections showcase your brand, product, or service with Feature Cards or Feature Columns.
Carousel sections display images, testimonials, and videos in an interactive carousel.
Marketing & Events sections help you grow your list and register visitors for an event with Forms, Event blocks, and more.
Custom sections give you a blank section, or a section with a Custom Code block, so you can build your own layout. See Custom sections below.
Tip: Use custom website widgets to add a large variety of functionality to your pages to increase engagement, with no code required. Note, website widgets may carry an additional cost outside your base Kajabi plan fee.
Add a section
Each section you add appears at the bottom of your page, and you can drag it into place afterward.
From the Dashboard, open the Website tab.
Select either Website Pages or Landing Pages for the type of page you want to edit.
Click the Title of the page you wish to edit to open it.
Click Add section in the sidebar.
Click the section you want to preview it on your page without adding it.
Click Add to add the section to your page.
Click Save to keep your changes.
Note: Each page supports up to 50 sections. When you reach the limit, the Add section button is replaced by the message This page cannot have more than 50 sections. To add more content, combine related content into fewer sections with multiple blocks.
Custom sections
A custom section is a blank slate, so you choose the blocks and build the layout yourself. Use one when no preset section fits your design, or when you want to add your own code to a page.
You can customize every preset section too. A custom section differs because it starts empty instead of with a preset layout. Choose the type that fits what you're building:
Custom section adds an empty section for you to fill with any block type.
Custom code section adds a section with a Custom Code block, where you enter your own code or embed code from another tool.
Add a custom section
From the Dashboard, open the Website tab.
Select either Website Pages or Landing Pages.
Click the Title of the page you wish to edit to open it.
Click Add section in the sidebar.
Select Custom section from the Custom category to preview it.
Click Add to add the section to your page.
Click Save to keep your changes.
Add blocks to a custom section
A new custom section is empty until you add the blocks you want to display.
In the sidebar editor, open the custom section you added.
Click Add Content.
Select a block type, then customize it. Learn about block types
Click Save to keep your changes.
Add a custom code section
A custom code section comes with a Custom Code block, where you enter your own code or embed code on your page. It's useful for:
Adding custom code without access to your site's Code Editor, like an embedded calendar. Learn how to add an Add to Calendar button to a page
Creating blank space on your page to design unique Landing Page layouts
Follow the steps in Add a custom section above, and select Custom code section instead of Custom section.
In the sidebar editor, click the Custom Code block.
Enter your code.
Click Save to keep your changes.
Warning: Custom code can open your site to vulnerabilities and malware attacks. Scan any custom code you plan to use with a tool like VirusTotal or Snyk, and follow the best practices for code-based customizations to reduce the impact.
Edit sections
From the sidebar editor, you can rename, duplicate, hide, delete, and reorder sections to build your page the way you want.
Rename, duplicate, hide, or delete a section
Rename a section to stay organized, especially when your page has several similar sections. The names you give sections are visible only to you in the editor and never appear on your published page.
Duplicate a section to save time when you build similar layouts on the same page, or to create separate versions optimized for mobile and desktop. The copy appears at the bottom of the page, so you may need to rearrange it.
Hide a section to build and customize content in advance without it going live on your page. Hidden sections stay in the sidebar editor, so you can show them again whenever you're ready.
Delete a section to permanently remove it and all of its content.
From the Dashboard, open the Website tab.
Select either Website Pages or Landing Pages.
Click the Title of the page you wish to edit to open it.
In the sidebar editor, hover over the section you want to edit.
Click the more options (...) menu and select Rename, Duplicate, Hide, or Delete.
Click Save to apply your changes.
When you rename a section, press Enter or click the check mark to confirm. Press Esc or click the X to cancel. A hidden section shows Show in place of Hide in the menu.
Warning: Deleting a section and saving cannot be undone. If you delete a section by mistake, leave the page before you save and confirm that you want to leave without saving. Any other unsaved changes you made before the deletion are lost too.
Rearrange sections
Drag sections in the sidebar editor to change the order they appear on your page.
From the Dashboard, open the Website tab.
Select either Website Pages or Landing Pages.
Click the Title of the page you wish to edit to open it.
In the sidebar editor, click and hold the drag handle (the menu icon) next to the section you want to move.
Drag the section to its position, then release.
Click Save to apply your changes.
Create saved sections
Saved sections let you reuse your favorite sections, including ones you custom designed, on other pages and emails. Design a section once, save it to your saved sections library, then add it to another page or email to build cohesive, branded Landing Pages, Website Pages, and email campaigns quickly.
In the page builder, design a section and save it to your saved sections library. When you design another page, open your saved sections library to add it:
Save a section from a page
From the Dashboard, open the Website tab.
Select either Website Pages or Landing Pages.
Click the Title of the page you wish to edit to open it.
Click Add section in the sidebar.
Click the section you want, then click Add.
Click the section in the sidebar editor to open its settings.
Customize the section.
Click the bookmark Save button at the top of the section's settings.
Enter a name for the saved section, then click Save.
Click Save to save your page changes.
Save a section from an email
From the Dashboard, click Marketing, then click Email Campaigns.
Click New Email Campaign to design an email campaign, or select a drafted email campaign.
Go to Email Content.
Hover over the section and click Edit content.
Click Add section in the sidebar.
Click the section you want, then click Add.
Click the section in the sidebar editor to open its settings.
Customize the section.
Click the bookmark Save button at the top of the section's settings. (In the older builder, this button reads Save section.)
Enter a name for the saved section, then click Save.
Click Save to save your email changes.
Add a saved section to a page or email
You can add a saved section to any page or email it's compatible with. See Saved section compatibility below for the rules.
From the Dashboard, open the page or email you want to edit. For a page, click Website, then Website Pages or Landing Pages. For an email, click Marketing, then Email Campaigns.
Click the page Title, or open the email campaign's Email Content and click Edit content.
Click Add section in the sidebar.
Click Saved sections.
Select the saved section you want to preview.
Click Add to page.
Click Save to keep your changes.
Manage saved sections
In the saved sections window, type in the Find box to search by name. Use Sort By to order your saved sections by Recently saved, Name, or Last used.
In the page or email editor, click Add section, then click Saved sections.
Select the saved section you want to change.
Open the more options (...) menu next to the section's name.
Select Rename or Remove section.
If you select Rename, enter a name and click Save.
Saved section compatibility
A saved section works only on compatible pages and emails. It's compatible when the page type and theme match, and the theme version is the same or a compatible version.
If a saved section isn't compatible with the page or email you're editing, it appears in the Incompatible sections group. You can select it to preview it, but Add to page is turned off and the window shows This section is incompatible with this theme.
Compatible and incompatible combinations
Saved sections work between:
Website Pages and other Website Pages with the same theme
Landing Pages and other Landing Pages with the same theme
Emails and other emails with the same theme
Saved sections don't work between:
Different page types, for example a Website Page and a Landing Page
Different themes, for example Encore and Premier
Custom themes and custom code
If a saved section comes from a custom theme, the theme you add it to must include that section type.
If you add a saved section that contains custom code to a theme that doesn't support its settings, Kajabi adds the section with the unsupported settings removed and shows Your saved section had settings that are incompatible with this theme and were removed. The section may not look exactly as it did in its original theme.
Add a section to a Premier page
Premier is a legacy template. If your page uses a Kajabi Pages template, follow the steps in Add a section above instead. Landing Pages built with Premier can be customized with sections, so you can turn a preset template into a page that's branded and designed as your own:
From the Dashboard, click Website, then click Pages.
Select the page you want to customize, or create a page.
Click Customize to open the template editor.
Click Add section in the sidebar.
Select the section you want, then click Add.
Click Save to keep your changes.
FAQs
Can I duplicate a section onto another page?
No. A duplicated section is always added to the bottom of the same page. To reuse a section on another page, save it as a saved section, then add it from your saved sections library.
Why can't I delete, duplicate, or hide a section?
Some sections are protected. Hover over the unavailable option to see why. This section is required means you can't delete it, like the Login section on a Login page. This section is unique means you can't duplicate it. This section cannot be hidden means you can't hide it.
Does Kajabi Support help with custom code?
No. Kajabi can't guarantee that custom code works with your site, so code-based customizations fall outside the scope of Kajabi Support. Test your code before you publish the page.
