Add and configure upsells in your offer’s Purchase Flow to present additional offers at the moment customers are most likely to buy. Increase your average order value by adding upsells to your offers. After a customer completes a purchase, you can guide them through a sequence of targeted offers presented at the moment they’re most likely to say yes. The Purchase Flow tab within each offer is where you configure which upsells appear, in what order, and what customers see when they decline.
Upsells are created and managed centrally from Sales > Pricing > Upsells. Learn how to create or customize an upsell page before adding it to a flow, see Upsells Overview.

How upsells work in a purchase flow

Each step in your upsell funnel presents one upsell to the customer. If they decline, you can optionally show a secondary upsell before moving to the next step. Secondary upsells are not a separate type of offer. They’re upsells shown after a customer declines a previous step. The same upsell can be reused across multiple offers, but it can only appear once within the same funnel. After a customer completes or exits the funnel, they are taken to the destination you configure: either their Member Library, a landing page, or a custom thank you page.

Add upsells to a purchase flow

  1. Go to Sales > Pricing > Offers.
  2. Click on the offer you want to edit.
  3. Select the Purchase Flow tab.
  4. Scroll to the Upsell Funnel section.
  5. Click Add upsell and select an upsell from your library.
  6. To add a downsell to a step, click Add downsell beneath that step and select an upsell.
  7. Repeat to add more steps to the funnel.
  8. Drag and drop steps to reorder them.
Downsells work best when they offer a lower-priced or scaled-down version of the declined upsell. Something that still adds value but removes the main barrier to saying yes.

Remove an upsell or downsell from a purchase flow

Removing an upsell from a purchase flow does not delete the upsell itself. It remains available in your upsell library and in any other flows it’s attached to.
  1. Go to Sales > Pricing > Offers.
  2. Click on the offer you want to edit.
  3. Select the Purchase Flow tab.
  4. Scroll to the Upsell Funnel section.
  5. Click the remove icon next to the upsell or downsell you want to remove.

Edit upsell page text

  1. Upsell page text, including your headline, body copy, button label, and decline link text, is managed on the upsell page in the Builder. Changes apply everywhere that upsell is used.
  2. Go to Sales > Pricing > Upsells.
  3. Click the upsell you want to edit.
  4. Click Customize under the active template.
  5. Edit the page content, button text, or decline link text directly in the Builder.
  6. Click Save when finished.
Important: Because upsells are reusable, any changes you make to the page content will apply to every offer that upsell is attached to. If you need different copy for a specific offer, create a separate upsell.

FAQ

Can I use the same upsell in multiple offers?

Yes. Upsells are reusable, so you can attach the same upsell to as many offers as you want. Any changes you make to the upsell page will update everywhere it appears.

Can an upsell appear more than once in the same funnel?

No. Each upsell can only appear once per funnel, but you can add the same upsell to different funnels across your offers.

What is the difference between an upsell and a downsell?

There is no functional difference. A downsell is simply an upsell shown after a customer declines a previous step. You configure this from the Purchase Flow tab by adding a downsell beneath an existing step.

Does removing an upsell from a flow delete it?

No. Removing an upsell from a purchase flow only removes it from that specific offer’s flow. The upsell remains in your library and in any other flows it’s attached to.

Where do customers go after completing or exiting the upsell funnel?

After a customer accepts, declines, or exits the funnel, they are taken to the post-purchase destination configured in the offer: either their Member Library, a landing page, or a custom thank you page.
