A mailto link opens a new email draft in your visitor's default email app, and a telephone link opens their phone app with your number ready to call. Add either one to a Call to Action (CTA) button so visitors can reach you with one click.
Use them to build Contact us pages, ask your contacts for specific information, or give visitors a fast way to call you. You can add a CTA to your Pages, Email Campaigns, and Products.
How mailto and telephone links work
How a mailto link works
To create a mailto link, enter mailto: followed by the email address you want in the new email draft. For example, mailto:[email protected] opens a new draft addressed to [email protected]. You can also pre-fill the subject, body, and extra recipients.
How a telephone link works
A telephone link is a click-to-call button. To create one, enter tel: followed by the phone number you want to appear in your visitor's default phone app. For example, tel:555-555-5555 opens the phone app with that number ready to call.
Add a Call to Action Section to a Page
The steps below create a CTA in a Page. Learn how to use a Call to Action to place it in Email Campaigns and Products.
From the Dashboard, open the Website tab.
Locate the Website Page or Landing Page you want to edit.
Open the Page Editor for the Page you want to edit, or create a new Page. Learn how to open the Page Editor.
In the sidebar panel, click Add block.
From the list, select Call to Action. The new Call to Action block appears at the bottom of the Section.
Click Save to keep your changes.
Add a mailto link
Start with the Call to Action Section you added in the previous section.
In the sidebar, open the Text block.
Under Block Settings, click Call to Action.
Under Button Action, select Go to a URL.
In the field below Button Action, enter
mailto:followed by your email address, such asmailto:[email protected].Click Save to apply your changes.
Pre-fill the email subject, body, and recipients
Add a code extension to the end of your mailto link to pre-fill more of the email draft. Replace the placeholder text in each extension with your own content:
CC - Add additional recipients to your email.
BCC - Add additional recipients that your contacts and CC'd recipients won't see.
Subject - Add a subject line to your email. Use
%20to add a space between words.
?subject=This%20is%20a%20subject
Body - Add a personalized message to the body of the email. Use
%20to add a space between words and%0Ato add a line break.
?body=This%20is%20body%20text
Then add your code extension to the mailto link:
Place your cursor at the end of your mailto link in the Call to Action.
Paste your code extension. If you use more than one, such as Subject and Body, keep the question mark (?) before the first extension and use an ampersand (&) before each one after it.
Example: mailto:[email protected]?subject=Music%20Lessons&body=I'm%20interested%20in%20learning%20to%20play
After you add your mailto link, customize your Call to Action Section to fit your brand.
Example
Add a telephone link
Start with the Call to Action Section you added in Add a Call to Action Section to a Page.
In the sidebar, open the Text block.
Under Block Settings, click Call to Action.
Under Button Action, select Go to a URL.
In the field below Button Action, enter
tel:followed by your phone number, such astel:555-555-5555.Click Save to apply your changes.
Tip: Test your page with your Call to Action to make sure everything looks the way you intend. When visitors click the button, their email app opens a new draft with your pre-filled content, or their phone app opens with your number.
