This guide covers three scenarios: connecting a custom domain to a site that's already live on its Kajabi subdomain, switching from one custom domain to a different one, and renaming your Kajabi subdomain.
Connect a custom domain to a live site
Kajabi keeps your site accessible through both your Kajabi subdomain and a connected custom domain.
Connecting a custom domain to your Kajabi site, even after your site has been live for some time, lets your visitors reach your site using either address.
For example, you launch your site on the Kajabi subdomain myawesomesite.mykajabi.com, then connect your custom domain, myawesomesite.com. From then on, visitors can reach your site with either myawesomesite.mykajabi.com or myawesomesite.com.
Change one custom domain to a different custom domain
If you already have a custom domain connected and switch to a new one, any link where you manually typed the full old URL — in a button, a marketing email, or page content — breaks once the old domain is disconnected, because that domain no longer points to your Kajabi site.
Links Kajabi generates for you keep working, because they're built from whichever domain is currently connected rather than hardcoded to a specific one. This includes offers, landing pages, and password-reset emails. A link written as just a page path (for example, /offer, with no domain in front of it) also keeps working, since a relative link always resolves against whatever domain served the page.
Note: Before switching to a new custom domain, review any spot where you manually typed the old domain's full URL — buttons, email sequences, event emails, and automation emails are the most common places — and update those to the new domain.
This only applies to emails that haven't gone out yet. Broadcast emails you've already sent can't be edited after the fact, so any old links in those will stay as-is.
At this time, it isn't possible to set up a 301 redirect to a new subdomain natively within Kajabi.
If you start with a Kajabi subdomain (for example, helpcenter.mykajabi.com), gain traffic, then change it later (for example, articles.mykajabi.com), the old subdomain shows a "page not found" error for anyone who still visits it.
