Use a Kajabi mobile app

Use your Courses, Coaching, Podcasts, and Community as a customer in a Kajabi app.

ℹ️ This article is for customers of a Kajabi site.

The Kajabi mobile app and a site's branded app let you use your Courses, Coaching, Podcasts, and Community on an iPhone, iPad, or Android phone or tablet. Both apps work the same way unless a section says otherwise.

To download an app, log in, switch sites, or log out, see Log in to a Kajabi mobile app.

Courses in a Kajabi app

A Course in the Kajabi mobile app or a branded app is organized into modules, and each module holds lessons. Some modules also have submodules. A lesson can be a video, audio, text, quiz, or assessment lesson.

Find and open your Courses

When you open the app, your library shows your Courses:

  • The Course you opened last appears at the top of your library under Recently viewed.

  • Tabs for Coaching, Podcasts, and other Products appear only if you have them.

  • A bar at the bottom of a module shows the last video or audio lesson you played. Tap it to pick up where you left off. On iPhone and iPad, the bar also appears on the Course page.

  • If the site shows Course progress, each module shows a progress bar and how many lessons you've completed, such as 2/5 complete. Depending on the site's settings, a finished module shows a checkmark.

Some Course content unlocks later or needs an upgrade:

  • A locked module shows a lock icon. If the module unlocks on a date, it shows Available on followed by the date. Cohort Course modules work the same way.

  • If a module unlocks after you finish a lesson, it shows that lesson's name. Tap the name to open the lesson.

  • If you open a locked lesson, the app shows This lesson is locked. Tap Complete lesson to open the lesson you need to finish first, or Go Back if the lesson unlocks on a date. On iPhone and iPad, if you tap a locked lesson in a module's lesson list, a pop-up shows This lesson is locked instead. Tap Okay to close it.

  • If you see Upgrade to unlock, the modules after it are part of an upgrade. Tap Upgrade now to open the site's checkout page in your browser. You'll see the same prompt if you tap Up next on a lesson that needs an upgrade.

Mark a Course lesson complete

To mark a Course lesson complete, tap the checkmark icon next to the heart icon on the lesson. The app plays a short confetti animation, and the lesson shows Completed in the module's lesson list.

  • To mark the lesson incomplete again, tap the checkmark again.

  • Video and audio lessons mark themselves complete once you've played 90% of the lesson, so you don't have to tap anything.

  • If you don't see the checkmark, the site has turned off marking lessons complete for that Course, or the lesson needs a passing quiz or assessment grade instead.

When does a video or audio lesson mark itself complete?

A video or audio lesson in a Course marks itself complete once you've played 90% of it. On iPhone and iPad, that happens as soon as you reach 90%. On Android, it happens when you leave the lesson after 90%, or when you pause at 97% or later.

Lessons that need a passing quiz or assessment grade don't mark themselves complete.

Watch or listen to a Course lesson

The video player in a Course lesson has these controls:

  • Tap the full-screen button to watch full screen.

  • Tap the captions button to turn on captions in any language the site added, or select None to turn them off. The button only appears if the video has captions.

  • Open the player's settings menu (the more options (...) menu or the gear icon) to change the video's speed or quality.

  • On iPhone and iPad, tap the 10-second buttons to skip back or forward 10 seconds.

  • Tap the AirPlay or cast button to play the video on a TV.

  • Tap the chapters button to jump to a chapter, if the video has chapters.

The app remembers where you stopped in each video, so the lesson picks up where you left off.

An audio lesson uses the same player as Podcasts. You can skip back or forward 15 seconds, change the speed, and keep listening in the background or from your lock screen.

If there's a next lesson, an Up next card below the lesson shows it. Tap the card to keep going.

Use quizzes, comments, search, and announcements in a Course

To take a quiz or assessment, open the lesson and tap Begin quiz or Begin assessment. The quiz opens inside the app. When you close it, the lesson updates to show your progress.

What you see after you submit a quiz depends on how it's graded:

  • If every question is graded automatically, you'll see your score right away. If the quiz has a passing grade, you'll also see whether you passed.

  • If the quiz has questions the site grades by hand, such as short answers or file uploads, you'll see Your answers have been recorded. and Your grade will be available once your quiz has been reviewed. Your score appears after the site reviews your answers.

  • Some sites hide assessment results, or only show them if you pass.

A Course also has these tools:

  • To comment on a lesson, tap Comments, type in the Add a comment... box, and tap the send button. To reply to someone, tap Reply under their comment.

  • To change your own comment, tap the more options (...) menu on it and select Edit Comment or Edit. You can't delete a lesson comment from the app.

  • To search a Course, tap the search icon at the top of the Course or module, type in the Search the course box, and tap a result to open that lesson.

  • To read a Course's announcements, tap the announcements icon at the top of the Course or module, then tap an announcement to read all of it. Tapping a push notification about a Course announcement also opens the Course's announcements.

If a lesson has no Comments row, the site has turned off comments for it. If there's no comment box, comments are closed.

Save Course lessons to Favorites

You can save Course lessons you want to come back to as Favorites. Favorites are saved to your account, so they show up on all your devices.

Note:

Coaching and Podcasts don't have Favorites.

To favorite a Course lesson:

  1. Open a Course in the app.

  2. Open the lesson you want to save.

  3. Tap the heart icon next to the checkmark icon.

The lesson is added to that Course's Favorites. To remove it, tap the heart icon again.

To see a Course's Favorites, open the Course or one of its modules and tap the heart icon at the top of the screen. Each Course keeps its own list. When you remove a lesson from this list, the app asks you to confirm first.

Download files from a Course lesson

When a Course lesson has files attached, the lesson shows a Downloads row with the number of files.

To download a Course file:

  1. Open the lesson and tap Downloads.

  2. Tap the file you want.

  3. Tap Download.

Where the file goes depends on your device:

  • On iPhone or iPad, a share menu opens. Select Save to Files, pick a folder, then tap Save. The file is in the Files app.

  • On Android, the file saves to your phone's Downloads folder, and the app shows Download completed. Tap Open to open it.

Which file types can I download from a Course?

You can download any file type the site attaches to a Course lesson, such as PDFs, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, .zip, .txt, .mp3, .m4a, .wav, and .mov files.

Coaching in a Kajabi app

A Coaching program in the Kajabi mobile app or a branded app is labeled 1:1 Coaching or Group Coaching. On the Coaching tab, each program shows its next session, and a finished program shows a checkmark next to its title.

Coaching sessions and their status

Each Coaching session in the list shows one of the following:

  • A Schedule session link, if you haven't scheduled a one-on-one session yet.

  • A calendar icon and the date, if the session is scheduled.

  • A checkmark and the date, if the session is completed.

To see a Coaching session's details, tap the session. The session screen shows the session number, date, length, coach, location, and description, plus the session's Agenda, Resources, and Notes. If the location is a link, tap it to open it.

In group Coaching, Agenda and Resources only appear if the coach added something.

Schedule, reschedule, or cancel a Coaching session

To schedule a one-on-one Coaching session, tap Schedule session in the session list, or Schedule on the session screen. The coach's scheduling page opens inside the app, and you pick a time there. It can be the site's built-in calendar, a Calendly page, or a link the coach set up. On iPhone and iPad, a link the coach set up opens in your browser instead.

  • To reschedule a session, open it and tap Reschedule below the date. The site's scheduling page opens in the app.

  • To cancel a session, open it and tap the X next to the date. The site's cancel page opens in the app.

  • Reschedule and the X only appear for one-on-one sessions booked through the site's calendar or Calendly. To change any other session, contact the site's support team.

If you don't see Schedule session, your coach schedules the Coaching session for you. In group Coaching, the coach always sets the session times, and some one-on-one programs are set up so the coach books each session. Once the coach schedules it, the session shows its date in the app.

Add agenda items, resources, and notes to a Coaching session

In one-on-one Coaching, you can add to a session from the session screen. In group Coaching, the agenda and resources are read-only.

  • To add an agenda item, tap Agenda, tap + or Add item, type what you'd like to cover (up to 140 characters), then tap Add. Tap the checkbox to check an item off, or the X on your own item to remove it.

  • To share a file or link, tap Resources, tap + or Add item, then select Add file or Add link. For a link, enter a Name and the Link URL, then tap Save.

  • To open a resource, tap it. To edit or remove your own link, use its more options (...) menu. To remove your own file, tap the X next to it, then tap Remove.

  • To add a note, tap Notes, then tap Add note under My notes, or under Shared notes in one-on-one Coaching. To change a note, tap the edit icon next to it.

Only you can see My notes. Your coach can see your Shared notes and the agenda items and resources you add. Notes your coach shares with you appear under Coach's notes.

Join a Coaching session or watch the recording

The session screen is where you join a Coaching session, add it to your calendar, or watch its recording:

  • To join a session, tap Join in the session list or Join session on the session screen. A session hosted on the site opens inside the app. A session on Zoom, Google Meet, or another video tool opens in that tool's app or your browser.

  • If you don't see Join, tap the session's location link to open the meeting.

  • To add a scheduled session to your calendar, open the session and tap Add to calendar. On iPhone and iPad, allow calendar access if the app asks, and the app shows Successfully added to calendar. On Android, your calendar app opens with the session filled in so you can save it.

  • To watch a recording, open the session and tap Watch recording. This option only appears if the session has a recording, either uploaded by the site or added from a live session hosted on the site.

Podcasts in a Kajabi app

Podcast episodes in the Kajabi mobile app and branded apps keep playing in the background when you switch to another app, and you can control playback from your lock screen.

The Podcast player and episode pages have these options:

  • Tap the speed button to change playback speed. Each tap moves to the next speed: 1x, 1.25x, 1.5x, 1.75x, and 2x, then back to 1x.

  • Tap the 15-second buttons to skip back or forward 15 seconds.

  • If a Podcast is organized by season, it opens on the first season. Tap the season name to open Choose Season and pick another season, or select All Episodes.

  • If the site added a transcript to an episode, tap Episode Transcript to read it.

  • If a Podcast's description is long, tap Read more to see all of it. Podcasts and episodes with explicit content show an Explicit label.

Community in a Kajabi app

If you have a Community Product, you can read and write posts, comment, react, search, and send direct messages from the Kajabi mobile app or a branded app.

On iPhone and iPad, some branded apps show the Community as a web page, so it looks different from what this section describes.

Open a Community and find your way around

To open a Community, tap the Community tab at the bottom of the app. In a branded app, each site picks the tab's name, so yours might have a different label.

Note:

The Kajabi mobile app doesn't show the Community tab for some sites that also have their own branded app. If you don't see the Community tab for a site, use that site's branded app or the site's website instead.

Inside a Community:

  • The icons at the top open the menu, search, notifications, direct messages, and your profile picture, which opens Settings.

  • The menu lists Feed, events, challenges, the leaderboard, any pages the site added, and each channel you can see. Live appears at the bottom when the site has a live room you can join. The site can rename or hide these areas.

  • The feed shows the newest posts first. To change the order, tap Newest first above the posts, then select Latest activity, Newest first, or Oldest first.

  • To change the layout, select Feed, Forum, or Gallery. In some channels, the site sets one layout, so you won't see these options.

  • Pinned posts appear in a Pinned Posts section. An announcement appears as a banner at the top of the feed. Tap it to read it, or tap the X to dismiss it.

  • Each site has one Community. To open a different site's Community in the Kajabi mobile app, follow the steps in "Switch to another site in the Kajabi mobile app" in Log in to a Kajabi mobile app.

Post, comment, react, and vote in a Community

To create a Community post:

  1. Open the Community tab.

  2. Tap the post box at the top of the feed.

  3. If no channel is picked yet, tap Select channel and pick one.

  4. Type your post, and add photos, a video, a GIF, audio, a document, a poll, or @mentions if you want.

  5. Tap Post.

The post appears in the feed. If the Community reviews posts first, the app shows A moderator will review your post before it becomes visible to others.

Keep these limits in mind when you post in a Community:

  • A post can have up to 6 files and 1 GIF.

  • You can't combine a GIF with photos or a video. Once a post has files, you can't add a poll.

  • A poll can have 2 to 10 options. After someone votes, you can't edit or move the post.

  • If a channel shows Only some people can post in this channel., you can't post or comment there. To post, pick a different channel.

You can also join in on other people's posts:

  • To comment, tap Comment on the post, type in the Write a comment... box, and tap Post. If the Community reviews comments first, the app shows A moderator will review your comment before it becomes visible to others.

  • To reply to a comment, tap Reply under it.

  • To react, tap the reaction button, or press and hold it to pick a different reaction. Tap it again to remove your reaction, or tap the reaction count to see who reacted. Each site can rename its reactions.

  • To vote in a poll, tap an option. To change your vote, tap a different option. To see how everyone voted, tap See Results.

Edit, delete, save, or share a Community post

To manage a Community post, tap the more options (...) menu on it:

  • Select Edit, Move post, or Delete to change your own post. Move post only appears if you can post in another channel.

  • Select Save post to save it for later, or Unsave post to remove it from your saved posts. Your saved posts are on your Community profile, in the Saved Posts tab on iPhone and iPad or the Saved tab on Android.

  • Select Copy link to copy a link to the post or comment so you can paste it anywhere.

Deleting a post also deletes its comments and reactions, and you can't undo it, so the app asks you to confirm first. To edit or delete your own comment, use the more options (...) menu on the comment.

Search, view profiles, and send direct messages in a Community

To search a Community, tap the search icon at the top, type at least 3 characters in the Search community… box, and tap a result. To narrow the results, tap All, Posts, Channels, Events, Members, or Recordings. The site can rename some of these tabs.

To view someone's Community profile, tap their photo or name. A profile has an About tab and an Activity tab. Other people's profiles also have a Direct Message button if the site lets you message that person. On your own profile, you can see your saved posts and set your Community username.

To change your Community profile picture, tap your profile picture in the top-right corner of your library, then tap the pencil icon on your photo. On Android, your Community profile opens first, so tap Edit Profile. Upload a new photo on the profile page that opens inside the app.

To send a direct message to someone in a Community:

  1. Tap the direct messages icon at the top of the Community.

  2. Tap +.

  3. Search for the person and tap their name.

  4. Type your message in the Write a message… box.

  5. Tap the send (arrow) button.

The message appears in your conversation with that person. You can also:

  • Add photos, a video, a GIF, or documents to a message.

  • Press and hold a message to reply to it or copy it. On your own messages, you can also edit or delete them.

  • When you reply, the reply opens a thread. Also send to DM is checked, so your reply also shows in the main conversation. Uncheck it to keep the reply in the thread.

If you don't see +, the site has turned off its member directory. On iPhone and iPad, the Members search tab is hidden too. You can still reply to people's posts and comments. If the app can't start a conversation, see "Error messages in a Kajabi app" on this page.

Community events, challenges, and live rooms

Community events, challenges, the leaderboard, live rooms, and chat channels open as a web page inside the Kajabi mobile app or branded app. To open one, tap the menu icon and select it, or tap the button on a feed post, such as RSVP Now, Join Now, or View Event.

To join a live room, tap the menu icon, then tap Live. If the host hasn't joined, the app shows Waiting for the host.

You can't block or mute another person from the app, and only moderators can pin posts. To get access to a Community, contact the site's support team. Some branded apps also sell Community access, as described in "Buy content in a branded app" on this page.

Branded app home screen and purchases

Each site sets up its own branded app home screen and tabs, so each branded app looks a little different. A branded app can have:

  • Text, images, videos, buttons, image galleries, embedded web content, and Products on the home screen. The Products can include ones you don't have yet. Tap a Product you have to open it, or tap one you don't have to see how to get it.

  • A More tab, if the app has more tabs than fit at the bottom of the screen.

  • A round links button in the bottom-right corner, which opens the site's links, like its social media pages or help page.

Buy content in a branded app

Some branded apps let you buy Products through Apple's or Google's in-app purchase. The Kajabi mobile app doesn't offer in-app purchases.

To buy a Product in a branded app:

  1. Tap a Product you don't have yet on the branded app's home screen or another tab.

  2. Tap the button for the offer you want, such as Enroll now for a free offer, Subscribe now, or Pay followed by the price and now.

  3. For a paid offer, confirm the purchase in Apple's or Google's payment screen.

Apple or Google charges the payment method on your App Store or Google Play account, not the site directly.

  • If you already bought a Product, for example on another phone, but it isn't in your library, tap the Product on the branded app's home screen or another tab. On the screen that opens, tap Restore Purchases below the buy button. The app also checks for your past purchases on its own when you log in.

  • You lose access to a Product if Apple or Google refunds the purchase, or when a canceled subscription reaches the end of its paid period. The app then removes the Product.

  • If a Product shows Unavailable for purchase, you can't buy it in the app. You can buy it on the site's website instead, or contact the site's support team for help.

Settings and notifications

To open the settings in the Kajabi mobile app or a branded app, tap your profile picture (or your initials) in the top-right corner of your library. The Settings screen opens.

Manage push notifications

The Kajabi mobile app and branded apps send push notifications about your Products, Community activity, and direct messages. A branded app can also send custom notifications from the site.

  • After you first log in, the app asks to send you notifications. Tap Allow. On Android 10 to 12, you'll see Enable Notifications instead, so tap Go To Settings and turn notifications on there.

  • To turn all of an app's notifications on or off later, use your phone's settings. See Apple's guide to change notification settings on iPhone or Google's guide to control notifications on Android.

  • To see your Community notifications, tap the bell icon at the top of the Community. Select All or Unread, or select Mark all as read from the more options (...) menu.

If you're in a site's Community, the Settings screen shows a Notifications row. Tap Notifications to choose how you hear about Community activity. For each type of activity except Weekly Digest, you can turn Push Notifications and Email on or off. For each channel, you can also select All Activity, Mentions Only, or None.

Which Community notifications can I change?

In the Community Notifications settings, you can change notifications for these types of activity:

  • Announcements, plus Challenges, Events, and Live Rooms if the Community has them.

  • Direct Messages and Channels, including each channel on its own.

  • Weekly Digest, a weekly email summary. It only has the Email option.

Change appearance, playback, and language settings

You can change these settings from the Settings screen:

  • To change the theme, tap Appearance and select Use device theme, Light theme, or Dark theme.

  • To start each lesson's video as soon as the lesson loads, tap Playback Options (or Playback Preferences) and turn on Enable Autoplay.

  • On iPhone and iPad, you can also turn on Enable Continuous Playback, which moves to the next lesson when a video or audio lesson finishes. This isn't available on Android, so tap the Up next card instead.

  • To change the app's language on Android, tap Language and pick one. This row appears if you're in a Community. The app saves the language to your Community profile and restarts.

  • On iPhone and iPad, there's no Language setting. The app uses the language saved on your Community profile, or your phone's language if you haven't picked one.

Manage subscriptions and other settings

  • To manage a subscription you bought in a branded app on Android, tap Manage subscriptions on the Settings screen. This row appears when you have an active in-app purchase.

  • To manage a subscription you bought in a branded app on iPhone or iPad, open your iPhone's Settings app, tap your name, then tap Subscriptions.

  • The Settings screen also has links to the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

  • To log out or delete a branded app account, see Log in to a Kajabi mobile app.

Update a Kajabi app

Updating the Kajabi mobile app or a branded app gives you the latest features and bug fixes. If your version is too old, the app asks you to update before you can keep using it, so we recommend turning on automatic updates.

To update a Kajabi app on iPhone or iPad:

  1. Open the App Store.

  2. Tap your profile icon at the top of the screen.

  3. Tap App Updates.

  4. Find the app, then tap Update, or tap Update All.

To update apps automatically, go to Settings > Apps > App Store, then turn on App Updates under Automatic Downloads.

To update a Kajabi app on Android:

  2. Tap your profile icon at the top right.

  3. Tap Manage apps & device.

  4. Under Updates available, tap See details.

  5. Find the app, then tap Update, or tap Update all.

To update apps automatically, in the Google Play Store, tap your profile icon, go to Settings > Network preferences > Auto-update apps, then select an option.

Fix problems in a Kajabi app

Start with the fix that matches your problem in the Kajabi mobile app or a branded app.

Site or Product missing from a Kajabi app

If a site or Product doesn't show up, try the fix that matches your situation:

  • If you got access recently, pull down on your library to refresh it.

  • If a different email address has access, add that email address to the Kajabi mobile app by following the steps in "Add another email address to the Kajabi mobile app" in Log in to a Kajabi mobile app. A branded app only holds one email address at a time, so log out and log back in with the other email address.

  • If you removed the site from the Kajabi mobile app, add it back by following the steps in "Add or remove a site in the Kajabi mobile app" in Log in to a Kajabi mobile app.

  • If the Kajabi mobile app shows a Switch now button instead of your Courses, the site has moved to its own branded app. Tap Switch now to get the branded app, then log in there.

Fix a frozen or crashing app

If the Kajabi mobile app or a branded app freezes or crashes, try these steps in order. Stop when the app works again.

  1. Update the app by following the steps in "Update a Kajabi app" on this page.

  2. Force close the app, then open it again. See Apple’s guide to force closing apps or Google’s force stop guide.

  3. Restart your phone or tablet.

  4. Delete the app and reinstall it from the App Store or the Google Play Store.

Your Favorites are saved to your account, so reinstalling the app doesn't erase them. If the app still freezes or crashes, contact Kajabi Support.

Error messages in a Kajabi app

These are the error messages you might see in the Kajabi mobile app or a branded app, what each one means, and how to fix it. For login error messages, see "Login error messages" in Log in to a Kajabi mobile app.

If it was your only email address, the app goes back to the welcome screen with the Get Started button instead.

To fix it, log in again with the email address whose sites are missing.

On iPhone and iPad, the Kajabi mobile app doesn't show this message. If a login expires there, the app logs you out of all your email addresses and goes back to the welcome screen, so tap Log In to log in again. In a branded app on Android, an expired login signs you out without a message.
